Romy has been nursing like a newborn recently so honestly, I am beat. I woke up this morning and realised that staying home was not an option so we decided to catch the bus to the BIG library.

My kids absolutely love catching the bus and it’s really part of their day out.

After choosing our books Bohan used the self check out all by himself to get his books. (we definitely used Romy’s card as Bohan has books squirrelled away on the house somewhere that I completely forgot so his card is blocked. Ooooops!!)

He is getting pretty great at knowing which options to use and figuring out from the first letter what the button says etc.

We got a good selection of child picked books and ones I wanted us to take out.

Then we had a lovely lunch all together and Bohan was quite interested in a wall with lots of big words on it. We sat for a while spelling out each word and deciphering what it said. I get so amazed by what he can do these days and he seems to just be soaking knowledge in without much force!

Since making a conscious effort to be truly home educating I see education everywhere now. Bohan and I went to the Lego shop while Romy napped in the pushchair. There was this great bit of the shop that gave you lots of pieces to make up your own car and then a ramp to put them down. It took Bohan a little while to figure out he needed his car to not only be sturdy but also not too high else it would just crash or topple over.

After the bus home we spent the remaining hour before Jamie came home from work playing with the giant blocks. They’re such a great resource. Our local playgroup has just closed down and they sold all their toys and games and we were so lucky to snag these amazing blocks. So great for gross motor skills and STEM activities.

Since we changed our downstairs around and made a dedicated play/learning space it’s been interesting to see how it’s transformed ho the children play. There’s definitely a lot more mess but they’re playing with so many more toys than they ever did before. I think it also helps that we have my intense toy rotation in motion now. Which I will write about at some point because it’s a whole big thing. Haha.
