The children already had the play dough out this morning when I joined them at the table.

Bohan had been asking me about our weekly story since Friday and he was really looking forward to hearing it this morning. I also love how into circle time Romy is. She joins in the verses and songs and does all the actions. It’s super cute.

We did our usual weekly shop this morning. I’ve been letting Bohan weigh all our fruit and veg and after talking him through it the first few times he is pretty independent using the machine. Finding the item we’ve got and pressing all the right buttons to produce the sticker. It keeps him really engaged around the shop too.

Bohan has been asking me for months if we could go into the cafe in the supermarket. I usually say no because I’m always feeling like I must get on. But I’m trying to chill out a bit in our day so we went and had a little lunch and a colour in. He was pleased as anything.

Romy sleeps in the afternoon and usually does around 1 hour 30. However today she slept for over 3 hours and Bohan and I got a lot done in that time.

We talked about what he looks like and we did two self portraits. One for his “All about me” book and one for the wall that will eventually become our display. He often scribbles when he drawers and I never see him draw people or anything really recognisable. But today he just got right to it and did two wonderful pieces of art that honestly i never knew he could do.

We went to sale the other day and added to our Orchard Games and Bohan has been super excited to play this new game at least twice a day and it’s amazing how quickly he can just see the spots on the die and know how many it is without counting them out.

I made a veggie “chicken” pie for tea so we did some pastry rolling – taking advantage of Romy having a super long nap.

When the little lazy bear finally woke up we went hunting for treasures for our autumn display. We are so lucky to have a community green that is totally unspoilt and completely bursting with life. Romy ate her weight in foraged blackberries and we picked some apples to cook with later in the week.

It was a pretty great Monday. I feel I didn’t expect too much of the children today and they seemed to be able to play independently for small chunks of time.

I’m excited to see more of Bohan’s art work as he grows. Oh and “chicken” pie was completely delicious.
